Playset Removal in Rochester, NY

Playsets are built to survive children, which means they are over-built, anchored, and awkward to move. The job is mostly about the anchors and the swing beam, not the volume of material.

  • From $1,000
  • Haul-away
  • Residential only

Why homeowners remove a playset

The kids have grown out of it. A playset that has not been used in two seasons is still something to mow around, paint and worry about structurally.

Or it is genuinely unsafe: split beams, rusted hardware, and a frame that has settled so the swing beam is no longer level.

What we remove

  • Wooden swing sets and climbing frames
  • Plastic and metal playsets
  • Towers, slides, climbing walls and monkey bars
  • Sandboxes and their borders
  • Ground anchors, helical anchors and set bases

Signs it is time

  • Split or checked beams, especially at the swing hangers
  • Rusted or loose hardware and chain
  • A frame that has settled out of level
  • A structure the children have outgrown

Our playset removal process

  1. Quote from photosSize, material and how it is anchored. Photos of the anchors and the swing beam tell us what we are dealing with.
  2. Take the swings and slides offMoving parts and plastic components come off first and are kept separate.
  3. Dismantle the frameBeams and towers come apart in sections; hardware is collected rather than left in the grass.
  4. Release the anchorsHelical anchors are unscrewed and sandbox borders lifted; anything set in concrete is priced from photos.
  5. Rake and magnet-sweepThe area is raked and swept with a magnet — playsets leave screws in the grass better than anything else.

Special considerations

  • If the set is going to be re-installed elsewhere, take it apart rather than cut it, and keep the hardware bagged and labelled.
  • Sand from a sandbox is not something we haul without discussing it first — it is heavy and it is usually wanted for something else.
  • Anchoring under a playset is the hidden cost; it is often deeper than it looks.

What happens to the space afterward?

The yard comes back: anchors out, grass raked. If a garden bed or a shed is going in that spot, the removal is sequenced so the ground is ready.

If a replacement surface is going in, we sequence the removal around it — and say so before the work starts.

What playset removal costs in Rochester

We do not publish prices we cannot stand behind, because the number depends on what is actually on site. Residential removal projects generally have a $1,000 minimum project value. What moves the quote:

  • Size and number of components — towers and slides add handling
  • Anchoring: helical anchors are quick, set concrete is not
  • Sandbox removal and what happens to the sand
  • Access and carry distance

How to get an accurate number

Send photos of the structure, the ground around it and the path a trailer would take to reach it. Add rough dimensions if you have them. Most jobs are quoted from that alone; anything structural or unusual gets looked at first.

Playset Removal FAQs

What happens to the bases under the playset?

It depends how they were set, and it is stated in the quote so nothing is discovered halfway through. The holes are backfilled so the lawn settles level.

Can you take it apart so I can sell it?

Yes, if you tell us before we start. Dismantling for re-use is slower than cutting it up, and priced accordingly.

What about the sand in the sandbox?

Tell us what you want done with it. Hauling sand is heavy and usually not the best use of the load.

Do you check for screws left in the grass?

Yes — a magnet pass is part of the clean-up on every playset, because that is where mower tyres and dog paws get hurt.
