Carport Removal in Rochester, NY

A carport is a roof on posts, and the posts are where it fails. Once the bases rust or rot, the whole structure is a wind risk — which is usually the point at which it gets removed.

  • From $1,000
  • Haul-away
  • Residential only

Why homeowners remove a carport

Rust at the post bases, a sagging roof panel or a frame bent by snow load: repair rarely makes sense on a kit carport.

Or the space is wanted for a garage, a different parking layout, or a patio where the carport used to be.

What we remove

  • Steel and aluminium carports
  • Wood-framed carports and lean-tos
  • Corrugated roof panels and trusses
  • Posts set in concrete or bolted to a slab
  • Concrete slabs and gravel pads underneath

Signs it is time

  • Rust at the post bases or through the roof panels
  • A roof that has sagged or been bent by snow
  • Loose or missing fasteners and bracing
  • A structure that moves in wind

Our carport removal process

  1. Quote from photosSpan, material and how the posts are fixed. Photos of the bases decide most of the price.
  2. Unclad the roofRoof panels come off first, in sections, because they catch wind.
  3. Dismantle the frameBolted frames come apart; welded or rusted ones are cut.
  4. Remove postsPosts are separated from their collars; what happens to the collar is stated in the quote.
  5. Leave the pad readyA sound slab stays; a failed one comes out. The area is swept and left tidy.

Special considerations

  • Roof panels catch wind even on a calm day — they come off first and get weighted or tied down immediately.
  • A carport bolted to a house wall leaves fixings that have to be sealed and the siding checked.
  • If the slab is sound, keeping it saves money; if it has cracked with the posts, it comes out.

What happens to the space afterward?

The slab is left ready for parking, a patio or a shed base. If the slab goes too, the ground is graded for whatever is next.

If a replacement surface is going in, we sequence the removal around it — and say so before the work starts.

What carport removal costs in Rochester

We do not publish prices we cannot stand behind, because the number depends on what is actually on site. Residential removal projects generally have a $1,000 minimum project value. What moves the quote:

  • Span and material — steel frames are quicker than welded timber
  • How the posts are fixed: bolted to a slab or set in concrete
  • Roof panel condition and disposal
  • Whether the slab stays

How to get an accurate number

Send photos of the structure, the ground around it and the path a trailer would take to reach it. Add rough dimensions if you have them. Most jobs are quoted from that alone; anything structural or unusual gets looked at first.

Carport Removal FAQs

Do you remove the concrete under the posts?

Yes. Collars are broken out and the holes filled, whether or not the slab stays.

Can the carport be re-installed?

Bolted kit carports sometimes can, if you want it dismantled carefully rather than cut up.

Is a carport removal a permit issue?

Sometimes, depending on the town and whether it was permitted. We do not give permit advice — check with the code office if it matters.

What if it is attached to the house?

The fixings come out and the wall is sealed. Attached carports are priced a little higher because of that detail.
